摘要

AN unusual dry-docking operation is set to take place in eastern Canada in the coming months involving four offshore support vessels. Due to take place in Halifax harbour, Nova Scotia, the fast-track operation is designed to minimise the time that the OSVs are off duty at the Hibernia and Hebron oilfields in the neighbouring provinces of Newfoundland & Labrador. This operation is expected to take place over a period of about one month sometime between mid-February and the end of May this year. Most vessels have to undergo maintenance work in a dry dock every five years in order to maintain their classification and thus their ability to operate safely. For the Halifax operation, Boa Offshore's Boa Barge 37 will be used to carry out the dry-docking of New Brunswick-based Atlantic Towing's Atlantic Shrike, Atlantic Griffon, Atlantic Heron and Paul A Sacuta OSVs. Three of the OSVs are currently on duty at Hebron and Hibernia, while the Atlantic Shrike is in St John's.
