Gazprom claims Nord Stream 2 breakthrough

Gazprom says it has reached an informal agreement with Slovak pipeline operator Eustream that could facilitate delivery to central Europe of gas supplied through the planned Nord Stream 2 pipeline. The deal covers use of the Slovak network - already a transit route to Austria and Italy for Russian gas supplied through Ukraine - once the 55bn m~3/yr Nord Stream 2 is up and running, Gazprom chief executive Alexei Miller said last week, without revealing further details of the discussions. But no formal documents have been signed and the companies only agreed provisionally on entry points for Russian gas to be received after 2019, a Gazprom source says.
