CHINA'S offshore wind capacity increased by 16.9 gigawatts in 2021 to 26.38 GW, accounting for 86% of the global capacity rise and catapulting the country past the UK as the world's largest installed base of offshore wind capacity. The rush for capacity expansion in 2021 will not repeat itself in 2022, however. The deepest wind project is installed in water depths of 46 metres offshore Guangdong province, while the deepest floating wind project is in water depths of 65 metres.
