Us soybean harvest progressing

The US soybean harvest has begun in nearly every major growing area, with early progress in line with the fve-year average, according to the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). The top 18 soybean producing states had harvested 7pc of the crop as of 20 September, even with the fve-year aver- age and ahead of last year's 3pc mark for the same week. Harvest is ahead of schedule in the Delta, with Louisiana having harvested 66pc (55pc fve-year average), Mississippi at 46pc complete (40pc average) and Arkansas at 22pc (21pc average). Soybean harvest has just begun in the Corn Belt states, all of which stand at 5pc or less complete. Minne- sota's harvest progress jumped by 11 points from the prior week to 12pc, up from the 8pc average.
