摘要

Europe will have direct access to Azerbaijan’s 900bn m~3 gas reserves after a BP-led consortium sanctioned a second phase of development in the Shakh Deniz gas field in the Caspian Sea. BP and its partners aim to bring the second phase of the field on line in 2018-19. Norway’s state-controlled Statoil will reduce its stake in the field and associated pipeline to 15.5pc from 25.5pc. Azeri state-owned Socar will acquire a 6.7pc interest from Statoil and BP will buy 3.3pc — for a combined $1.45bn. The companies plan to expand the South Caucasus Pipeline through Azerbaijan and Georgia at the same time as the upstream project. Combined costs are estimated at $28bn.
