Coal India raises output, supplies on year in June

State-controlled producer Coal India (CIL) raised its output and supplies in June from a year earlier, because of strong utility demand to meet higher power consumption during the summer. CIL — which meets more than 80pc of India’s coal needs — produced 58mn t of coal in June, up by 12pc or 6.4mn t from a year earlier, according to provisional data from the company.
