Talos Energy is expanding its large-scale decarbonization project at Bayou Bend on the Texas Gulf Coast,a joint venture with Chevron,as it becomes one of the largest carbon storage projects and the only offshore lease in the US dedicated to CO2 sequestration,Chief Sustainability Officer Robin Fielder said May 1.Speaking at the Offshore Technology Conference in Houston,Fielder said carbon capture,usage and storage technology has seen rapid development in the last year,supported by enhanced incentives set by the Inflation Reduction Act and available tax credits for CO2 storage highlighted in section 45Q of the US tax code.”If we’re going to have carbon neutrality,we have to have CCUS in that,”Fielder said.
