Messoyakh drilling begins

Gazpromneft and TNK-BP have started drilling production wells at their Messoyakh group of fields in YamalNenets, despite uncertainty over when a final investment decision on the $17bn project might be made. The first well, which is due to be sunk to a depth of 1,800m, should be complete in July. This year's programme envisages five more production wells across the two pads and four exploration wells, says Gazpromneft, the project operator.
