The RTS index lost ground on the week as stock markets around the world retreated, in response to familiar fears about the eurozone economy and slowing Chinese growth. Oil stocks fared better than most, supported by this week's rise in crude prices. The week's main corporate news in the energy sector was 2011's financial and operational results from Russia's largest independent gas producer Novatek.
