Chinese DAP prices are still pegged in the low/mid-$460s/t fob but producers have already indicated that their offers for shipments beyond September will be raised as a result of the new VAT policy which was announced on 10 August by China's ministry of finance. The ministry confirmed that the country will re-impose VAT on all fertilizers with effect from 1 September 2015 in a move designed to optimise the structure of agricultural inputs and promote sustainable agricultural development. VAT will be levied at a rate of 13pc on domestic fertilizer sales, exports and imports, confirming the rumours circulating last week.
