CVR to buy Rentech Illinois plants

CVR Partners has reached agreement to buy Rentech Nitrogen's East Dubuque, Illinois, nitrogen fertilizer facility for $533m in a merger that will create the US' second largest UAN producer. The East Dubuque plant has the capacity to produce 372,300st/y of ammonia, 275,000st/y of UAN and 20,000st/y of urea. CVR's existing Coffeyville, Kansas, plant has UAN production capacity of 1.1m st/y and 447,125st/y ammonia. It is the only nitrogen plant in the US to use petroleum coke as feedstock.
