Uralchem mulls ammonia export terminal in Russia

Uralchem is reported to be considering building an ammonia plant and handling port in Taman on the Black Sea, and has started preparing documents for approval from Russia’s Ministry of Industry. According to recent reports in the Russian press, Uralchem has noted that Russia has no capacity for its own ammonia export by sea, which forces Russian producers to use Ukraine, Estonia and Latvia as export ports. Russian ammonia production is expected to rise to 2.1 million tonnes once new projects by Acron, PhosAgro and Eurochem are completed, according to the report, which could mean Russia is able to raise ammonia export levels significantly.
