Last year Kazakhstan exported around 2.75mn t of sulphur, a drop of 21pc year-on-year. This is the lowest level of sulphur exported from the country since 2008. China, the country's biggest export market, took receipt of just over 1.3mn t, a drop of 13pc on the year, the low- est yearly volume received since 2010 as the crushed lumps stock held by TCO depleted. Exports to Brazil also slipped 8pc to sit at around 490,000t for the year.
