CF Industries saw its ammonia production grow year-overyear by 8pc to 1.99mn st as a result of producing at 99pc of its stated capacity. Ammonia sales volumes decreased by 18pc to 870,000st, but were still ahead of 2015 over the first half of the year. However, CF net sales for ammonia fell 40pc year-over-year to $358mn as a result of declining average selling prices, which were down by 27pc to $411/st. CF continues its expansions at Donaldsonville, with its new ammonia plant expected to begin production during the third quarter. Its new Port Neal, Iowa, ammonia plant is mechanically complete, with production expected to begin at the end of the third quarter or early in the fourth quarter. The new urea plant is scheduled to begin producing shortly thereafter.
