Italian integrated firm Eni has agreed to sell a 30pc stake in the Zohr natural gas field offshore Egypt to Russian stateowned Rosneft for $1.125bn. The deal will leave Eni with a 60pc operating interest in the field. The company agreed to sell a 10pc interest to BP for $375mn last month. The agreement with Rosneft is on the same terms as the one with BP. Rosneft will reimburse Eni for its share of past expenditure, which amounts to $450mn so far. And like BP, the Russian firm has the option to acquire a further 5pc stake under the same terms.
