摘要

In the present study, a one-pot solvothermal process has been designed for the synthesis and decoration of MoS2 over graphite rod (MoS2/GR) using soyabean oil at 200 degrees C. The powder X-ray diffraction confirms the formation of MoS2 over graphite rod (GR). In this process, the MoS2 nanoparticles were directly grown on GR. SEM study confirms that MoS2 (similar to 120 nm) particles are homogeneously distributed over GR. The Vander Waal interaction between sulphur and graphite surface enhances the stability and catalytic activity. The as decorated MoS2/GR has been used as working electrode for the hydrogen evolution reaction. The observed onset potential and overpotential of MoS2/GR were -21 mV and -257 mV respectively. The observed onset potential is nearly three times lower than earlier reports.
