It has been confirmed that US refiners have now started to finalize Q2 contracts with Vale and other major buyers at a new price level of$160/t fob US Gulf.With freight for US Gulf–Santos put into the high$20s/t,these prices equate to$185-190/t cfr,the same level as agreed by Brazil’s buyers for Trammo/FSU volumes for Q2. The prices are still lower than recent spot levels offered into Brazil,and as a result Brazil’s buyers were ready to accept and prompt conclusions were reported to be going through.
