摘要

In recent years, research on polymers has projected a wide variety of novel applications related to the development of biomaterials. The potential use of polymers for biomedical applications can be tailored by functionalizing, blending, or making composites; offering the possibility for fabricating new appliances with unique properties. The major requirements for a biomaterial include non-toxicity, biodegradability, biocompatibility, etc. since it would experience direct contact with living tissues during service. This review focus on the recent advancements in the field of blended and reinforced polymeric systems for biomedical applications, especially in dentistry, orthopedics, implant technology, drug delivery, and tissue engineering.
