An increase in US ferrous scrap prices allowed domestic wire rod prices to rise in June even as demand and business activity remain subdued. Meanwhile, an influx of imports has prevented rebar prices from realising a similar rise as exporters in Mexico and Turkey find openings in the US market. Merchant bar and beams prices held m/m, although another scrap price increase in June may support price increases in the near term.
