PotashCorp(PCS)will close its sulphur-based sulphuric acid plant at Geismar,Louisiana,by the end of the first half of 2015,according to sources close to the company. Facing expenses to comply with Environmental Protection Agency(EPA)regulations,PCS will shut the plant and buy sulphuric acid on the open market,the sources said.PCS declined to comment,and the EPA was not available for comment.
