China’s lithium-ion battery production up in 2021

China’s lithium-ion battery production rose signifcantly last year, driven by strong demand resulting from the country’s initiatives to transform into a low-carbon society. China produced 324GWh of lithium-ion batteries in 2021, up by 106pc from the previous year, according to data released by the ministry of industry and information technology (MIIT).
