Japan's imports of MOP totalled 22,994t in August, a 66pc year-on-year drop, according to GTIS data. Canada was the largest supplier at 12,563t, but shipments from this origin fell by 76pc year on year. January-August 2016 imports totalled 300,576t, a decline of 17pc year on year.
