US prices stabilise on producer announcements

This week Mosaic and Intrepid joined Agrium in announcing $15/st increases to US MOP offer prices. While potash buyers have not dived in to purchase higher-priced MOP, the formal moves by these suppliers have bolstered short-term demand and prompted trades at prevailing levels. This week’s granular MOP assessment of $180-185/st fob Nola marks the frst increase since December 2014, so the rise is signifcant, albeit a very modest $5/st. It is too early to say the US market has turned, but the signs of stability are now clearly evident after the steady declines.
