Brazil May fertilizer sales up, harvest estimates down

Fertilizer sales in Brazil increased in May to nearly 2.4mn t, up by 14pc from the same month in 2015, according to Brazil's fertilizer industry association Anda. Sales figures in January-May show a near 13pc increase from 9mn t last year to more than 10.1mn t in 2016. May fertilizer imports also increased, albeit more slowly, to 1.91mn t, up by 2.4pc from May 2015. Imports increased in January-May by 4pc year-on-year to 7.62mn t.
