First Puerto Rico National Bonsai Festival

After many years of trying to persuade someone to let us hold a National Bonsai Festival, the Mayor of my hometown, Trujillo Alto, finally agreed and offered us the large Ruben Zayas Montanez Coliseum to stage our event. The first impression when I stepped in the Coliseum was, how are we going to fill this place with bonsai? Immediately the Puerto Rico Bonsai Federation called all clubs and associations in Puerto Rico to a meeting. We had only 47 days to put this show together so we must do it rightif we want to have it every year in the same place. All seventeen Bonsai clubs and association came forward to help us in the organization process. First we put together a plan of how we were going to exhibit the trees, then security and the most important, collected the money to put this together.
