Growing production costs raise polymer prices across the board in March/Tensions are running high/War,logistics,and manufacturing issues expected to underpin increases in April
Prices in North America rose as expected in March. With the war in Eastern Europe creating uncertainties about fossil feedstocks, production costs inevitably increased.Logistic problems in US ports and on road and rail continue.Additives such as colour pigments and glass fibres remain in short supply. In China, the latest Covid outbreaks are paralysing entire cities like Shanghai, which on the one hand is throttling exports, and on the other is stifling China's hunger for imports.More and more chemical and polymer producers and converters are also curtailing their Russian ties and operations, according to PIE partner RTi(Fort Worth,Texas,USA).
