The mechanical responses of granular materials are highly influenced by their micro-scale morphology characteristics. One of the most important parameters that governs the mechanical responses of granular materials is the particle shape. Vast number of experimental studies have investigated the effect of particle shape on the packing density and critical state parameters (Cho et al., 2006), small and large strain soil stiffness (Santamarina & Cho, 2004), and internal friction angle (Yang & Luo, 2018).
