Adnoc expands carbon capture plans

Abu Dhabi state-owned Adnoc is to develop the 1.5mn t/yr Habshan carbon capture,utilisation and storage project,tripling the firm’s carbon capture capacity to 2.3mn t/yr.The project includes carbon capture units at the Habshan gas processing plant,pipeline infrastructure and a network of wells for CO2 injection.The anticipated completion date is 2026.Adnoc did not disclose the cost.Adnoc has brought forward its target to reach net zero carbon emissions from its operations,known as Scope 1 and Scope 2,by five years to 2045.
