Purpose of Study: To systematically assess the quality of information in diabetes-related videos featured on TikTok. Approach: Diabetes-related TikTok videos (specifically in Chinese) were collected with basic information like URL, publication date, uploader name and type, uploader’s verification status and video length, and details regarding likes, shares and comments were coded for analysis. Video sources from six different types of uploaders (three types of “individual” users and three types of “organizational” users) were included in the study. All videos were assessed by two independent certified physicians in terms of content completeness and quality. The DISCERN instrument (a tool designed to measure the quality of written consumer health information) was used to further categorize the videos’ quality of content.
