Coal prices post highest ever day-on-day gains

Today marked the highest ever day-on-day gains for coal prices, with the API 2 April paper contract increasing by $136.25/t to $451.50/t and the API 4 April contract climbing to $415.50/t. Prices have infated dramatically owing to some buyers’ diversifcation away from Russian coal as the risk associated with trading Russian product mounts following the invasion of Ukraine.
