A nationwide strike called by French labor unions Feb. 16 to protest the government's planned pension reform is causing disruptions across the country's ports, according to market sources. Vessel operations are suspended at the oil terminal of Lavera in the Mediterranean with delays expected. Similarly operations are affected at the Dunkirk port in the northwest. The nationwide action follows previous days of nationwide protests on Jan. 19 and 31, and Feb. 7 and 11. Another nationwide day of protest has been called by the unions for March 7, which is expected to affect ports and refineries.
