Severe damage to a gathering station at the Shebelinka gas field in the Kharkiv region in eastern Ukraine last week brought into sharp focus the risks faced by thousands of front-line Ukrainian oil and gas workers trying to maintain domestic production while under attack from invading Russian forces. Five explosions rocked the facility in an attack overnight on 13 March, a senior official with state-owned gas company Naftogaz said, although it was still unclear if the damage was caused by guided missiles, artillery fire or bombs dropped from aircraft.
