A prominent astrophysicist, a pioneer of research on X-ray objects in the optical wavelength range,a doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, a professor at the Moscow State University and a researcher at the Crimean Laboratory of the Sternberg Astronomical Institute, the oldest member of the Editorial Board of the “Astronomy Letters” Journal, Viktor Mikhailovich Lyuty, has passed away. He died on April 14, 2009, at the age of 69 years after a serious,prolonged illness.
