Dwarf planets - worlds in their own right?

In 2005 the object now known as Eris was discovered beyond Neptune, and this discovery threw the Solar System into chaos. For the preceding 75 years our model of the Solar System contained nine planets, starting with Mercury closest to the Sun and extending out to tiny, frozen Pluto.
