Taken over three years,during the winters of 2005through to 2008, this superbtrue-colour image is a complexcomposite of Hyperstar 1 data (a three-frame mosaic of just theHorsehead region), Sky 90 data(deep frames of the HorseheadNebula and the Belt of Orion),and finally a two-frame Sky 90mosaic of the Belt and Horseheadregions taken in RGB, hydrogen-alpha and hydrogen-beta. Whenadded up, the total exposure timeis in excess of 38 hours, probablycloser to a whopping 40 hours.
