To the doomsayers who complain that there are ever fewer airshows staged on active RAF airfields, the 2017 season has seen a doubling in their number; last year just one, at Cosford, this year two. The new kid on the block is the Scampton Airshow, organised by RAF Charitable Trust Enterprises, the team behind RIAT.
