摘要

Rust caused by Uromyces appendiculatus var. appendiculatus causes economically important yield losses in dry bean producing areas of Mexico. Yield losses could reach devastating proportions according to germplasm susceptibility, environmental conditions and plant developmental stage of disease incidence and its severity Studies in leaf morphological variations allow in the understanding of rust resistance. Rust resistance sources, other than the differentials, are constantly needed in common bean breeding programs (Araya et al., 1996). The objective was to asses the influence of stomata traits and foliar pubescence on rust resistance of common bean bred cultivars from different genetic and geographical origin.
