Abstract Rosalia alpina (Linnaeus, 1758) is an endangered and flagship saproxylic beetle. The males’ fight is common and widespread behavior in longhorn beetles, with numerous reports in the literature. In spite of its relevance, for Rosalia alpina there are only general mentions of this behavior and only sparse and uncontextualized photographic records. In this note we describe and discuss, by presenting photographic documentation, the observation of Rosalia alpina males fighting, trying to knock the opponent off the tree trunk.
