Financial Statements for the year ended 31 August 2006

The financial responsibilities of the Secretary to the Commission are set out in its Rules of Procedure and Financial Regulations. Fulfilment of those responsibilities requires the Secretary to prepare financial statements for each financial year which set out the state of affairs of the Commission as at the end of the financial year and the surplus or deficit of the Commission for that period. In preparing those financial statements, the Secretary should: Select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently; Make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent; Prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the Commission will continue in operation.
