Colletotrichum lindemuthianum (Sacc. & Magnus) Scribner, causal agent of anthracnose on common beans (Phaseolus vulgaris), can provoke serious damages to the crop when the environment conditions are favorable for the fungus (Paula Junior & Zambolim, 2006). Artificial inoculations are recurrently used in breeding programs aiming resistance to this pathogen. The traditional inoculation method consists in spraying inoculum onto both surfaces of the primary leaves. This process is laborious and time consuming. Therefore, the improvement of the inoculation process with purpose to make it easier and faster is important. Thus, the objective of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of inoculation just onto the adaxial surface of primary leaves under five inoculum concentrations of C. lindemuthianum.
