The number of Internet sites that provide legislative histories, bill status, or the full text of U.S. legislative documents has been steadily increasing in recent years. Although electronic databases of U.S. legislative information have been available for at least the last twenty years, the sites listed in this article are freely available and, in some cases, include the full text of documents. These sites provide an alternative to the commercial databases for libraries and researchers that don't subscribe to these databases. While the extent of coverage varies, most sites include only a few years of data. This article is a guide to these sites, organized by the type of document or information that a researcher might need.
