International Symposium DIESEL ENGINES

摘要

In this session, we have had the chance of hearing the positions of all the major "common rail" suppliers on the future evolution of the system to face the emission challenge of the Diesel engines. All of us have realized two very concrete facts: (1) The first one is that the "common rail" has exploited the Diesel engine potential and, as a consequence, has completely changed the automobile market and business and, finally, also the life of engine engineers. (2) The second is that the "common rail" technology is still undergoing a continuous and dramatic evolution; in fact, after only 7 years since the first application, the 2nd generation in production today seems to be too old and "System suppliers" are trying to define the specifications of the 4th generation.
