摘要

The thixoforming experiments already carried out on simple casting geometry demonstrated the process feasibility for AZ91 magnesium alloy. The thixoformed magnesium micro- structure showed lower porosity than high pressure die cast alloy. Moreover the process seems particularly suitable for the production of parts with big sections which cannot be obtained by HPDC. The manufacture of first engine brackets prototypes is considered the first step for a possible future production of magnesium alloy massive components.
