Houston—US oil rigs were up another eight to 720 on Friday, according to Baker Hughes’ weekly count, with distribution of the increased activity becoming increasingly broader as the North American industry recovery continues. That follows a growth of nine oil rigs last week and even several low double-digit weekly additions earlier this year. The oil rig count has grown by 191 or 36% in 2017 alone and more than doubled since third week of May 2016.
