摘要

The relation between mineral processing and the viability of mining and raw material recovery projects is reviewed. As shown in various examples, mineral processing technology plays a significant role in the feasibility of a project. In those cases where concentrate purity and/or recovery of values from the ore need to be improved, additional processing stages are the typical response. However, this approach will increase investment and operating costs. Unconventional technologies may be an option to overcome these handicaps. In this context, an overview of emerging or alternative technologies in the areas of grinding, fine particle separation and leaching is presented.
