As a global industry leader in poultry genetics, Cobb-Vantress facilitates collaborative research efforts with partners worldwide. Wher Cobb invests in external research, we are tapping into researchers and facilities to help answer questions tha' aredifficult to address with our own resources.We have a great research team of geneticists, molecular biologists and quantitative geneticists, but there are projects such as looking at resistance to a disease agent that we would not want to introduce on our pedigree farms.We are working, for example, with researchers at the University of Arkansas located in the United States to address 'robustness' of genetic lines to a disease challenges such as coccidiosis or salmonella. We can challenge the siblings (brothers and sisters) of a particular family off the pedigree farm and then calculate a breeding value for the family that is still on the pedigree farm.
