Winter storage of bonsai can sometimes be a big job even in the best of times, Some of us do not have space for a storage area, or are new to Bonsai and have not made arrangements for winter storage. Or some, like myself, live in apartments but stilllike to enjoy bonsai. So winter is a slightly bigger battle to keep trees alive and well. I believe I have come up with something worth trying, which has worked for me for almost twenty years. I have lost few trees and no pots during this time. I live outside the Philadelphia area, which makes it in zone 6, on the ground floor of the apartment building. I have lived on the second floor, with a balcony, but the first floor works best for many reasons. First, the trees add a lot to the area you live in and can help you meet other people in the apartment complex, None of my trees have been stolen or disturbedjust by the damn squirrels, but everyone has that problem.
