The ecological factor in assessment of resistance in pest populations

AbstractBefore response of a species to a pesticide may be assessed in the field, several ecological parameters must be measured. These include effective population size, migration rate and selection pressure. Examples are given showing the factors to be considered in the estimation of effective population size. The problem of relating measured gene frequency changes to the agencies causing them is then discussed.
