Anderson (2013) added this introduced species to the Irish list, based on a record from Co. Londonderry in Northern Ireland. I can now report its occurrence in the far south of the island from Co. Cork. Two males and two females were extracted by flotation from a narrow, relatively organic-rich, sand bank on the margin of the River Bandon (Irish grid reference W47605500), on 29 May 2016. The river is margined by deciduous woodland on this stretch, which is upstream of Bandon town, but there is also much intensive agricultural use of the floodplain upstream of the collection site. The male aedeagi, after clearing in 10% KOH, clearly show the distinct hooked internal sclerites (as illustrated in Lott (2009) and Schülke (2012)). This, in addition to the external diagnostic characters mentioned by Lott (2009) and Anderson (2013), was used to distinguish this species from C. incongruus Steel.
