CONFIGURABLE TOOLS FOR LOW VOLUME STAMPING

Traditionally, for the sheet metal forming presses are used, where the forces required to form the pieces to be manufactured are obtained either through mechanical devices, eventually coupled with a flywheel as energy storage device (mechanical presses), or through fluid under pressure acting on one or more screws (hydraulic presses). These two kinds of actuations are related with the huge forces necessary for such kind of manufacturing processes (in the order of hundreds of tons). The main advantages that presses yield for sheet metal cold stamping are: · providing very high forces (up to thousands of tons), · high production rates, as required for high volume productions, like for instance those typical of the automotive industry.
